Harding agrees Saints deal

New Southampton boss Alan Pardew has made his first signing of the summer, completing a deal for former Ipswich and Leeds defender Dan Harding.

The 25-year-old has been snapped up by Pardew after trialling with Brighton & Hove Albion last week. He was released by Ipswich in May.

Harding has put pen to paper on a two-year deal at St Mary's and will offer Pardew options on the left flank.

The former England Under-21 international spent time on loan at Reading last season and has made over 200 first-team appearances during spells with Leeds, Ipswich, Brighton and Southend United.

"I am delighted that Dan has chosen to join us and I feel he will become a valued member of our squad this season," Pardew told the club's official website.

"He brings with him the valuable experience of playing for the likes of Reading and Ipswich in the Championship and I am sure he will be a positive influence both in the dressing room and out on the pitch."
