Hammond eager to wipe out deficit
Saints were on the verge of wiping out their points deficit on Tuesday night, only to crash to a last-gasp 3-2 defeat by Bristol Rovers.
The south-coast club remain on minus one points, but Hammond is hopeful Alan Pardew's side will be in the black by 5pm on Saturday.
"You have to move on," said Hammond.
"It's hard because it hurts all the players, we do care and we are all passionate about the club but you have to move on because if we carry it with us it will affect us on Saturday.
"We have to be fresh and try to win the game. We'll stick together and put it right."
