Goal glee for McGoldrick

Southampton youngster David McGoldrick was delighted after netting his first senior goal for the Saints in their 4-0 Carling Cup second round romp at Millwall.

The 18-year-old Irishman was making only his third first-team outing for the club and was pleased to get off the mark.

He told the Southampton Echo: "I've been waiting a long time for my first professional goal and I thought it would take me ages, but I've got it now so hopefully I'll get more.

"I said I'd celebrate my first goal because it's big in your career and hopefully I can do it again now.

"It was good to get a chance to prove myself."
