The centre-back, who recently left Crystal Palace to join the League One side on a three-and-a-half-year deal, missed out on the chance of promotion when Ben Watson's penalty hit a post in the play-off semi-final against Bristol City back in 2008.[LNB]Fonte told the club's official website: "We had a key moment at Bristol City where we got a penalty which would have taken us to the Wembley final, but we missed it and conceded a goal so then it was all over.[LNB]"It was difficult the following week, but it was an experience. I've been there and learnt from it as every player did that day so now I hope to make it all the way this time and win it."[LNB]The 26-year-old is relishing the chance to prove himself with Saints and he added: "It's difficult to talk about yourself but I can promise that I'm going to give 110 per cent every time I'm on the pitch and I hope they like what they see. I will work as hard as I can to please them."[LNB][LNB]
