Davis loses FA appeal
16 Mar 2007 - 13:28:47
Southampton goalkeeper Kelvin Davis will serve a three-match suspension after losing his appeal against an FA misconduct charge.
Davis was charged for aiming a kick at Hull City striker Jon Parkin during the meeting of the two teams at the Britannia Stadium last weekend, with the FA acting on video evidence after referee Neil Swarbrick missed the incident.
Saints boss George Burley told the club's official website: "It was a reaction, not a kick, and there was no intent.
"But the referee didn't think it was bad and he had a clear view, so it is very disappointing.
"It is a big blow to have Kelvin suspended because he was outstanding against Cardiff on Tuesday. But Bartosz Bialkowski is a very good young keeper and has a lot of potential.
"He had a very serious knee injury which took him a long time to get over, but he's fully fit now and I'm sure he won't let us down."
