Davis relinquishes Saints armband

Davis will remain as club captain but will not skipper the side during games, an honour which is instead expected to go to midfielder Dean Hammond.[LNB]"It's something I've spoken about with the manager and he feels that someone on the pitch wearing the armband will have more of an effect," Davis told the club's official website.[LNB]"We're at the stage now where it's little tweaks like this that we're making to give us winning performances.[LNB]"I accept that, my role will still be club captain but it just won't be wearing the armband and I can put up with that.[LNB]"There aren't many goalkeepers who are captains and if it's going to be the difference between winning or drawing games then I accept that. I still feel that I'm captain of the football club but the manager has come out and said quite loudly and proudly that is the case, so I'm as happy as I can be."[LNB][LNB]
