Cortese turns Milan down

AC Milan have been rebuffed in their attempt to tempt Southampton chairman Nicola Cortese to join their board. The Rossoneri were keen to bring the Swiss-Italian banker to the San Siro, but the League One side insist Cortese has no intention of leaving St Mary's. Cortese has spoken in the past of his 'excellent contacts' with several Serie A sides, including Milan. Those contacts meant he was able to bring Papa Waigo to the south coast on loan from Fiorentina last summer.
