Burley eyes loan signings

Southampton boss George Burley is looking to bolster his promotion-chasing side with some loan signings before the transfer window closes.

Grzegorz Rasiak and Bradley Wright-Phillips netted late goals as the Saints pushed QPR further into the relegation mire with Saturday's 2-0 victory at Loftus Road, but Burley is keen to draft some fresh faces into St Mary's to keep the south coast club on the right track.

He said: "QPR will be disappointed, but we stepped up a gear in the second half and I'm very pleased with my players," he said.

"QPR were playing for their lives and we knew this was going to be a difficult one for us, but we did really well.

"The two lads that came on as substitutes are good prospects. It was a good pass from David McGoldrick and I was really pleased to see Bradley Wright-Phillips score.

"Now I'd like to get a couple of players in on loan because we have a number of lads out injured."
