Lambert has already hit seven goals since joining from Bristol Rovers for £1million, while Connolly is building up his fitness following his arrival on a free transfer and could make his debut at Oldham on Saturday. "David is looking somewhere near to his best and if we can get him to play at that level then we're going to be very fortunate," said Pardew. "It's an exciting prospect because he's the perfect foil for Rickie Lambert and you'd like to think that with those two fit and well we could be a little too much for most teams in this division. "As yet, David's not quite there so it's still in the melting pot. "The boys who are playing in the team at the moment have been doing a brilliant job and the system we've been playing has suited individuals. If they keep on winning, then Connolly will have to sit on the bench anyway."
