Boss does not want Chamberlain to wilt

Southampton manager Nigel Adkins admits he is wary of youngster Alex Chamberlain suffering with burn-out. The 17-year-old has made 31 appearances for Saints already this season and also made his debut for England Under-21s this week. But Adkins says the highly-rated winger is still in good shape and is likely to be involved when Carlisle visit St Mary's on Saturday. "Alex has played a lot of games and done very well but it is something we are cautious of," he said. "He's a young player we are trying to develop and one of those factors is making sure he doesn't burn out. "But he seems to have a spring in his step and his confidence should be high after representing his country at Under-21 level."
