Southampton goalkeeper Artur Boruc has been ruled out for six weeks with a fractured hand sustained in Sunday's defeat at Chelsea, Press Association Sport understands.

The Poland goalkeeper was forced to leave the field after suffering the injury when attempting to keep out a Demba Ba effort at Stamford Bridge.

Ba's effort hit the post but the ball ricocheted nicely for Gary Cahill to force the ball over the line to make it 1-1 after 55 minutes and Chelsea went on to win the game 3-1.
