Barnard brace pleases Adkins

Southampton boss Nigel Adkins hailed Lee Barnard after his two-goal blast helped to secure a comfortable 3-0 home victory over Yeovil. Barnard's double and a long-range Alex Chamberlain strike allowed promotion-chasing Saints to maintain their challenge and left Adkins delighted. He said: "Lee Barnard was terrific, he is finding some form and that is coming from just playing games. He was outstanding and hopefully all his injuries are behind him now. "Lee's goals are going to create competition for places and we need that if we, as a team, are going to be firing on all cylinders. Lee has had an opportunity presented to him and he has taken it. "Adam Lallana was also outstanding. He has been out for while but he is massive for us and the way we play. "We have a big game coming up against Bournemouth, it is a big game for fans, a local rivalry and there is some pressure on us - but pressure makes diamonds."
