Adkins targets Seagulls

Boss Nigel Adkins has set his sights on catching league leaders Brighton after Southampton moved up to second place with a 4-0 victory over Exeter. Guly Do Prado`s brace and a goal apiece from Adam Lallana and substitute Lee Barnard moved Adkins side to within six points of long time leaders Brighton. Adkins believes his side can reel in Albion if they can strengthen during the transfer window and keep hold of their star players. "Of course we can catch Brighton," he said. "We`re second in the table and they know we're on their coattails. We want to win the league but we have to make sure we are more ruthless and we should have scored a lot more goals. "The league table only matters on the last day of the season but you have to make sure that you're in the race and we are. "We have targets in mind to strengthen the squad and if we can bring them in we will and we're fortunately not in the situation where we have to sell our prized assets like Adam Lallana, Alex Chamberlain and Jose Fonte."
