Adkins targeting 2011 success
Southampton manager Nigel Adkins believe that his side have what it takes to maintain their improvement in the new year.
The former Scunthorpe boss has directed a move towards the top of the npower League One since arriving in September, but is aware that the season is far from over.
"When I joined this football club we were 22nd in the division," Adkins told the club`s official website. "We are fifth now so it`s good progress.
"We`re not yet into the January window and the mad speculation of transfer activity, inflated prices, expectations, great banter and debate about who should join and who should stay has started.
"It`s an interesting period of time, but our intention is to win the division, it`s as simple as that.
"We have an excellent squad of players and the aim is to get the best out of them and improve."
