Adkins: Saints will cope
Southampton boss Nigel Adkins has backed his team to cope with the number of injuries and suspensions amassed over recent weeks.
Jose Fonte picked up his fifth booking of the season during Saturday`s win over Cheltenham while Lee Holmes, Frazer Richardson and Rickie Lambert all went off before half-time and have joined Danny Butterfield on the treatment table.
Adkins told the club`s official website: "It gives people opportunities. Dan Seaborne will be fit for next week and young Aaron Martin, who is itching to play, will be available next week.
"It gives Jose a bit of time to recover.
"Lee Holmes definitely won`t be available (for the trip to Hartlepool) because it looks like quite a serious one he`s got.
"Frazer is a minor one and Rickie`s we think is a minor one, so we will have to wait and see."
