Adkins relishing `big challenge'

Nigel Adkins has told his new Southampton players to relish the challenge ahead of them this season. Adkins, who was named as Alan Pardew's successor at St Mary's last week, is still looking for his first win in charge. Saints were hot favourites for the League One title and are still expected to challenge for promotion despite their poor start, and Adkins wants his side to revel in the pressure rather than shy away from it. "I said to them before the Colchester game to embrace the challenge of being in front a big crowd at St Mary's," said Adkins. "We've got to excite them but we've got to pass the football about. "We are presented with a big challenge but it's one we should all love and enjoy."
