Adkins: Point hard to take
Southampton manager Nigel Adkins admitted to feeling deflated in the wake of an eight-goal thriller at Peterborough.
Saints left with just a point despite goals from Richard Chaplow, Dean Hammond and two from Rickie Lambert. Craig Mackail-Smith, Chris Whelpdale, Grant McCann and a last-gasp Lee Tomlin penalty ensured the points were shared.
Speaking after the match, Adkins said: "It was a very open game played in very windy conditions on a bumpy surface.
"It was obviously a great game of football to watch and I'm sure no-one watching will have been short of entertainment, but I'm somewhat deflated to have not won it after my team twice went two goals ahead.
"All credit to Peterborough for keeping going and coming back at us twice in the way they did, but scoring four goals on the road and not winning is disappointing.
"A match of four penalties is very unusual in itself but I'm not going to make any comments on the decisions until I've had the chance to see them again."
