Southampton manager Nigel Adkins saluted a professional performance following the 2-0 win over Charlton which saw his team edge closer to the automatic promotion places. Guly Do Prado opened the scoring with a composed finish in the 10th minute before Lee Barnard wrapped up the points in the second half with his second goal in as many games. Adkins said: "I thought we started extremely well and passed the ball extremely well. We scored a couple of excellent goals and I was looking for us to go on and get a few more. "The supporters really got behind the players. Sometimes we are going to have to be patient and break teams down, but we were excellent. "The lads have worked extremely hard and given a good performance for the supporters without being troubled really."
