Adkins defends Holloway

Southampton boss Nigel Adkins has leapt to the defence of Ian Holloway following the Blackpool manager's decision to make 10 changes to his team on Wednesday night. Holloway has threatened to resign if the Premier League - as they did against Wolves last season - take action over his team selection in the 3-2 defeat at Aston Villa. Adkins said: "A manager can do whatever he wants at a football club, he can pick whoever he wants to ultimately try to win a game of football. "Who's to say who the best team is, who's injured and who's not? It's up to the manager because ultimately as we all know if managers don't win games they get the sack. "If Ian Holloway feels it's the right thing to do then it's the right thing to do. The manager has the insight into what he wants to do for the football club, he's a winner and he wants to win."
