Adams dismisses Southampton talk

Adams, 47, was a popular figure with Saints fans during a five-year spell on the south coast in his play days and reports have linked him with a return to the club. But the former Brighton boss, who is yet to sign a contract as Vale boss despite being appointed at the end of May, has no intention of becoming Mark Wotte's successor at St Mary's. He told BBC Radio Stoke: "It's a club I know well and it's a club that's in my system, but I agreed to be manager of Port Vale and that's what I'll do. "Maybe after they find out that we've lost 1-0 at Biddulph (in a pre-season friendly on Saturday) my odds will lengthen a bit."
