South Africa midfielder Andile Jali could miss this summer's World Cup with a heart problem.

Routine tests carried out on all members of Carlos Alberto Parreira's provisional squad for next month's tournament revealed the youngster has a heart complication and the 20-year-old has been sent to the United States for further examinations.

"(We are) heeding a doctor's recommendation that Jali travel to the University of Florida Gainsville Medical Centre in the United States as this facility has a track record of dealing with athletes in this area of medicine," a statement from the South African Football Association said.

"It is envisaged that Jali's tests will be performed in time for him to be available for the finalisation of the squad," it added.
