We continue our countdown to the World Cup with a look at Everton's attack-minded midfielder Steven Pienaar.

Pienaar started his senior career with Ajax Cape Town in South Africa, before making the natural transition from feeder club to Ajax proper in 2001.

He helped the club to two Dutch titles in his spell in Amsterdam, before moving to Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in 2006.

Pienaar joined Everton on loan in 2007 and joined permanently for £2 million a year later.

His dynamic style and feverish work-rate has endeared him to the Everton faithful, and he was named Everton Player of the Season for 2009/10.

On the international stage Pienaar has won 46 caps and will be making his second World Cup Finals appearance in 2010, having been part of South Africa's 2002 squad.
