Struggling French Ligue 1 side Sochaux have sacked their Bosnian coach Mecha Bazdarevic and appointed Eric Hely on an interim basis, the club confirmed on Tuesday.

"Faced with the necessity to rectify its sporting position in Ligue 1, FC Sochaux-Montbeliard have decided to bring about changes at the top of their first team," the club said in a statement.

"As a result Mecha Bazdarevic is no longer the leading coach."

Bazdarevic, 51, took over at the beginning of the season but has failed to fire the team who are bottom of the league with just 21 points from 26 games.

Hely has been with the club since 2003 and is coach of the reserve team.
