Sochaux hoping for no slip-ups in Banana transfer

Highly-regarded Cameroon central defender Yaya Banana is set to join Ligue 1 strugglers Sochaux from CAF Champions League winners Esperance the buying club announced on its website on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old - an Under-20 international - is set to come to Sochaux on Thursday and undergo a medical before being officially unveiled on Friday.

Banana - who also won the Tunisian league title twice and the domestic Cup once - was under contract to Esperance till 2014 but neither the transfer fee nor the length of the contract he is due to sign with Sochaux has been revealed.

The young defender is Sochaux's second signing in the transfer window as on Monday they signed Ivory Coast international midfielder Thierry Doubai on loan from Serie A highflyers Udinese.

Sochaux are presently second from bottom of Ligue 1 a point adrift of safety.
