Replay awaits for Northwich and Boreham Wood

Jordan Williams struck a fine free-kick as Northwich Victoria made light of their inferior league position by holding Boreham Wood in the FA Cup first round at the Help for Heroes Stadium.

Vics took the lead in the 12th minute when Brian Summerskill dummied a free-kick for Williams, who blasted home from the edge of the box.

Boreham Wood equalised in the 23rd minute when a Clovis Kamdjo header set Junior Morias free on the right of the box and he squeezed the ball under onrushing Northwich keeper Mason Springthorpe.

Northwich kept up their confident approach after the break with Summerskill testing goalkeeper James Russell two minutes into the second half.

Kamdjo was off target just before the hour mark while Northwich missed a chance to retake the lead when Iain Howard saw his close-range effort superbly tipped around the post by Russell.

With 10 minutes left Springthorpe kept the hosts in the contest, first saving a low Clifford free-kick before denying Kamdjo on the rebound from point-blank range, ensuring the teams will have to do it again at Meadow Bank.
