Jamie Tolley has been told by boss Gary Peters that he will remain Shrewsbury captain after impressing during the side's two recent victories.
The midfielder took over the armband from Neil Sorvel at the end of October, since when the Shrews have won back-to-back games against Chester in the league and then against Braintree in the FA Cup.
Peters told the club's official website: "Jamie was captain but I didn't give it him. As Neil Sorvel came off against Chester, he gave it to Tolley and he did well and played like a captain.
"I'm not going to take it off him - he'll have to lose it."
