Simpson moves to reassure fans
The notable departure of Grant Holt along with the exits of Ben Davies and Chris Humphrey, coupled with some disappointing pre-season results, has caused some concern in Shropshire, but Simpson insists he is working hard to bring the right faces to the club in time for August 8. He told Town's official website: "We've got two weeks and one of the things about the timing of Grant Holt's departure is we have time to get new people in. I was hopeful that we were going to get (Paul) Benson in but that hasn't happened, but there are other players out there who I believe will do a job. If we can get the right people into the club then I'm sure that all that worry will soon be gone." Shrews will run the rule over a trialist striker from France in Tuesday's game at Ellesmere, but Simpson is keen to stress he is looking for quality and not quantity. He added: "I think there were 25 players here to start pre-season last year and I accept that is far too many. We've got to a point where we have managed to clear it out and move on players that I felt we needed to move on. "Now the plan is to bring in more that have got quality and I believe what we have got has better quality than last season. There is obviously the odd player that I would have liked to have kept but it's part of football that they move on."
