Simpson hails Holt landmark
29 Dec 2008 - 12:02:13
Manager Paul Simpson paid tribute to the efforts of Grant Holt after the striker scored his 20th goal of the season to earn Shrewsbury Town a 1-0 win at home to Bury.
The 27-year-old frontman has been a big hit since joining the Shrews last summer, with his latest goal helping Town register a first win in five games.
Simpson told the club's official website: "It's a fantastic achievement and no-one can take that away from him, but it's also about everything else he brings to the game.
"I brought him into the football club to score goals and we've got to make the most of that.
"There is no point in getting a player who gets you 20 goals in a season and then you don't go and get something from that season.
"What we need to do is to try and get other players to go and try and join in with those goals to take the pressure off him.
"We were doing that at the start of the season, but for whatever reason that has dried up at the moment."
