    Simpson enjoys cup display

    05 Nov 2008 - 12:23:20

Paul Simpson praised the all-round team performance after Shrewsbury Town booked their place in the area semi-final of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

The in-form Shrews were 5-0 winners over League Two rivals Dagenham & Redbridge on Tuesday evening.

"I think it was a good all-round performance. I'm delighted with the way we defended as well as the way that we attacked," Simpson told the club's official website.

"I've got absolutely nothing to complain about tonight. We've won and are through to the next round and that is all that matters.

"Dagenham are a big strong side who caused us problems, they had fantastic quality from set-pieces and it has given us a bit of an insight into what to expect when they come here in the league in a couple of weeks' time."

Meanwhile, Simpson has confirmed that Town skipper Ben Davies will be out of action for up to four weeks following surgery to correct a groin problem.

"We've been nursing him through for weeks now and it came to the point where we needed to get him in and sort it," he added.

"He'll be missing now for anything between three and four weeks and it's unfortunate, but it's something we had to have done."
