Simpson cools Shrews' joy

Manager Paul Simpson refused to get carried away despite the League Two favourites opening their season with a 4-0 demolition of Macclesfield Town.

Shane Sherriff fired them spectacularly ahead on 31 minutes, before second-half strikes from Grant Holt, Graham Coughlan and Dave Hibbert secured the points.

"We couldn't really have asked for more today," Simpson told the club's official website.

"I think we defended well, were positive going forward and it's an ideal start for us.

"Today is the first of 46 games and we won't get carried away with it, just like we wouldn't have got suicidal if it hadn't gone our way.

"It's been a good day for us and the next one will come around very quickly."
