Shrewsbury march to top of table

18 Sep 2010 - 17:16:44

Shrewsbury Town are the new leaders of League Two after a Jake Robinson brace in five second-half minutes was enough to give them a 3-1 win over Northampton Town.

Matt Harrold had put the hosts ahead before Kevin Thornton briefly levelled for the Cobblers.

Rotherham secured a comfortable 4-1 win over Barnet thanks to goals from Kevin Ellison, Tom Pope, Danny Harrison and Adam Le Fondre.

Mark Byrne netted a late consolation but it will have done little to ease the pain of the home fans.

Steve Williams netted an injury-time winner to secure a 1-0 win for Bradford City at home to Gillingham.

Luke Murphy snatched a point for Crewe Alexandra against Burton with a goal just after the hour mark.

Jacques Maghoma had put the hosts 1-0 just before the break but they couldn't hold on.

Ryan Lowe netted a leveller deep into injury time to secure a point for Bury at home to struggling Hereford.

A Guillem Bauza penalty had given the visitors the lead early in the second half but it wasn't enough for all three points.

Chesterfield breezed to a comfortable 3-0 win over Cheltenham thanks to a brace from Craig Davies after Drew Talbot had opened the scoring.

Marc Richards netted a brace to help Port Vale to a 3-0 away win over Macclesfield. Sean Rigg scored the other goal to secure the points.

George Donnelly scored the only goal of the game after 41 minutes to hand Stockport County a narrow 1-0 win over Oxford United.

Morecambe produced a resilient display to beat Southend 3-2 away from home.

Anthony Grant and Barry Corr scored for the hosts but Stuart Drummond, Paul Mullin and James Spencer all found the back of the net to give Morecambe the win.

The game between Aldershot against Wycombe ended goalless as did the match between Stevenage and Torquay.
