Arestidou progressed through the ranks at Blackburn but was released from Ewood Park at the end of last season. Shrews boss Paul Simpson said: "Andreas is an English lad with a Greek father and is a former England youth international. "He is a goalkeeper who I've seen develop from the age of about 14 through the levels at Blackburn Rovers. He is a good keeper, a good shot stopper who is a decent size with good distribution. "With Andreas joining that is a young keeper coming in and I'm still pushing to bring in a first-team keeper in to compete with Glyn Garner. "I have two or three options that I am following to see if I can get a deal done. They are all of equal standard and all are keepers who I think could do a very good job for us at this level."
