Shrews swoop for McIntyre

Shrewsbury Town have landed Macclesfield midfielder Kevin McIntyre in a deal believed to be worth £50,000.

Shrews boss Gary Peters moved swiftly to fill the void created by the departure of former captain Stewart Drummond to Morecambe with the signing of the left-sided midfielder.

McIntyre has agreed a two-and-a-half year contract at the New Meadow.

"We got £15,000 for Stewart and we've spent that and a bit more on Kevin McIntyre," Peters told the club's official website.

"He's going to cost us around £50,000 to bring in with that depending on if we get to the play-offs and if we get promoted - and let's hope we are paying the full amount for him.

"He can play in a number of positions but I like him as a central midfield player where his tenacity, hard work and sweet left foot will make us a tougher side."

Meanwhile, Peters has confirmed that Ben Davies will take the captain's armband.
