Shrews swoop for Hurst

Shrewsbury Town manager Gary Peters is delighted to have finally secured the signing of long-time target Glynn Hurst on an 18-month deal.

The 29-year-old striker arrives at Gay Meadow from Notts County where he has scored 23 goals in 59 League appearances in the last 18 months.

"I'm delighted to say we've managed to bring Glynn Hurst in," Peters told the club's official website.

"This has been going on for the last couple of weeks. We'd agreed a deal with Notts County for Glynn to join us and the easiest way to do that was for them to cancel his contract yesterday and him to come and sign for us today.

"I've liked Glynn for a long time and tried to get him in last summer but couldn't quite afford it, but now we've managed to get him in.

"He's a striker who scores goal, you look at his record of 244 league games and 106 goals and that's a tremendous record which isn't far off a goal every two games."
