Shrews cruise to Bees win

Published: 09 Feb 2010 - 23:20:34

Shrewsbury kept their promotion dreams alive with a comfortable 2-0 win over Barnet. The hosts inflicted the damage inside the opening half-hour with well-taken goals from Craig Disley and Steve Leslie.Disley, who joined the club from Bristol Rovers in the summer, glanced home a Lewis Neal cross to score his first goal for the Shrews after 12 minutes.Neal was once again the provider as his raking pass was taken in his stride by Leslie, who drove into the box before smashing an unstoppable shot in off the underside of the crossbar.Shrewsbury could have increased their lead before the break but Barnet goalkeeper Jake Cole was on hand to deny Leslie and Disley. There was little action of note in the second half as substitute Paul Furlong wasted Barnet's only chance by volleying straight at David Button in the Shrewsbury goal.
