Shrewsbury Town defender Kelvin Langmead is unlikely to return to action this season after picking up a knee injury in training last week.
The 23-year-old has not played for the last month but had hoped to feature in the last two games of the season before suffering the setback.
Shrews boss Paul Simpson told the club's official website: "Kelvin's worked really hard with the medical staff to get himself to a level where he felt he could come in to train.
"He trained with us last Friday but came off at the end with a lot of soreness and was concerned with the area around the bottom of the knee.
"We want to get to the bottom of it and we don't want to take any risks with him.
"He's the type of player who wants to play on even though it's hurting, but my main thing is that I want Kelvin Langmead to be fit for the start of pre-season to be available for the start of next season."
