Hurst ponders Town future

Striker Glynn Hurst is ready to leave Shrewsbury Town if he cannot force his way back into the team on his return from a loan spell at Bury.

The 30-year-old joined the Shakers on loan a fortnight ago after dropping out of the first-team picture at Gay Meadow and has since scored three times in as many games.

Town boss Gary Peters told Hurst to view the one-month loan deal as an opportunity to climb back into contention, but the former Notts County man is not sure he has a realistic chance of ousting Michael Symes or Derek Asamoah from the Shrews' starting line-up.

"I need to speak to Gary and see what his thoughts are and what he's got in mind," he told the Shropshire Star.

"I'm 31 next birthday and want to be playing regularly and feel I'm good enough.

"If I can't get that at Shrewsbury I may have to look elsewhere for my football, which would be sad."
