Shrewsbury Town defender Ben Herd could make a return to action before the end of the season after a quick-fire recovery from an ankle injury.

The 21-year-old suffered ligament damage in the goalless draw with Barnet a month ago, but could be back in action in the next couple of weeks.

Shrews physio Joe Hinnigan told the Shropshire Star: "Ben's coming along great. He is starting to do some light training.

"When we first saw the specialist after the injury, it looked like it was going to be a massive bonus if he played again this season.

"But it has improved a lot since then and that's credit to Ben and his attitude.

"We don't like setting targets because that can only leave the player disappointed, but it's very encouraging."
