Edwards exit moves closer

Shrewsbury Town manager Gary Peters has confirmed that Luton Town are interested in signing highly-rated midfielder David Edwards.

The 21-year-old rejected a new contract offer from the Shrews in February and looks certain to be plying his trade elsewhere next term.

Peters told the Shropshire Star: "Luton have just rung and asked about Dave and they know what the situation is - it's gone no further than that.

"They know they'll probably have to go to a tribunal if they do sign him.

"Lots of things come into consideration there, like the amount of time the player has been with a club, what divisions the two clubs are from and things like international appearances.

"If it was a Premiership club or a good Championship club the tribunal might set the fee at £500,000 - you just don't know."
