Shrewsbury Town midfielder Ben Davies is unlikely to play again this year after suffering a serious Achilles injury in the play-off success against MK Dons.
A specialist has confirmed that the 25-year-old former Chester City star has ruptured a tendon and will be sidelined until at least Christmas.
"The specialist took a look at Ben and didn't need a scan to confirm the problem, he just felt the Achilles and knew the problem straight away," Shrews boss Gary Peters told the club's official website.
"It's cracked me up. I was talking to Ben after he returned from the specialist and couldn't continue talking to him.
"Ben is devastated and so are all of us. It means he can't go on holiday and other simple things like that."
