Daniels seeks Shrews return

Shrewsbury Town goalkeeper Luke Daniels is challenging for a return to action after finally overcoming a nagging thigh injury.

The 20-year-old has been sidelined since late October, but is fit and raring to go ahead of the trip to Grimsby Town.

Daniels told the Shropshire Star: "I trained yesterday, so hopefully I should be back and available for Grimsby.

"I feel like I have been there or thereabouts for a week or so now, so it would be good to be back in contention and then we will have to see what the manager decides.

"Competition is always good in any position, so hopefully I can come back strongly and get back into the team.

"I feel as though I have developed by playing games at first-team level this season, so I want to try and get back into the team and make it impossible for the manager to leave me out."
