Ashikodi handed Town chance

Shrewsbury Town have signed former Watford striker Moses Ashikodi on a short-term deal running until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old was recently released by the Hornets and impressed in a reserve team outing for the Shrews in the week.

Town boss Paul Simpson told the club's official website: "He's a player who we had in to train a couple of weeks ago and the plan was then to have a look at him in the reserves, but the game was postponed.

"He came in this week and played in the reserves on Wednesday and he did well and scored two goals.

"The goals weren't that important, it was more about the way he went about things, the positions he got into.

"Looking at him I thought he was just that bit different to the strikers that we already have here."
