Two-goal Taylor repays Turner's faith

Shrewsbury manager Graham Turner lauded Jon Taylor after the youngster marked his first league start with a double in the 3-0 win over Burton. After a dull opening period, winger Taylor netted two goals in 15 minutes to put the Shrews two ahead on the 70-minute mark before recalled striker Matt Harrold wrapped up the points. And Turner was delighted that Taylor repaid his faith. "I'm delighted for Jon," said Turner. "He works very hard for the side and he's a brave little lad. He worked up and down that right-hand side for fun and he popped up in the right areas. "He took his first goal very well. I'm not sure if he knew much about his second but he was in there to block the clearance so good luck to the lad, he's done well. "Since the start of the season, he's put in steady performances for the reserves, steady performances in training every day and he's got terrific enthusiasm. When things are going wrong, sometimes you have to give kids a chance."
