Turner: Wroe a bargain buy

Shrewsbury manager Graham Turner hailed the impact of match-winner Nicky Wroe after he grabbed the goal to sink Stevenage 1-0 on his home debut. The former Torquay man, the most influential player on the pitch, made the breakthrough in the 37th minute. Lionel Ainsworth's shot was blocked but Wroe controlled instantly before flicking a measured shot to the far corner of the net. Turner said: "I've got to say he looks a good £10,000 worth which is what he's cost us from Torquay. "It was a good finish, very composed, he got himself into a good position to pick up the loose ball and he deserved the goal. He's played three games for us, we've won all of them, so it's a good start. "Sometimes you win well like we did at Lincoln on Tuesday and sometimes you have to knuckle down and graft. Stevenage were never going to come here and lie down, they were organised and took the game to us. "We've played a few more games than some of the sides around us in the table but we're in an automatic promotion spot which at this stage is where we want to be. We've just got to kick on now."
