Turner to rest Ainsworth

Table-topping Shrewsbury are likely to rest Lionel Ainsworth in their clash with Wycombe. The 22-year-old has proved an integral player for the Shrews this season, but missed last weekend's 3-1 victory over Northampton after picking up the knock in training. Ainsworth has since returned to training but manager Graham Turner is likely to err on the side of caution by naming him on the bench, with Tuesday's match with Port Vale in mind. "Bearing in mind the two games in four days, what we don't want is for him to play in the game at Wycombe and then sidelined again for Port Vale," he said. "We've got to have a good look and an assessment of [the injury] so that it doesn't jeopardise his ability to stay fit for a number of weeks." Meanwhile, Shrewsbury have been boosted by a re-diagnosis of Benjamin van den Broek's ankle injury. It had been feared that the Dutch midfielder had fractured an ankle in a reserve match, but a new scan has shown ligament damage, meaning he will be back faster than first thought.
