Turner hails battlers

Shrewsbury boss Graham Turner saluted his side's "rearguard action" after they held onto Lionel Ainsworth's early strike to beat Rotherham 1-0. The Shrews took the lead after just five minutes when Mat Sadler and Craig Disley combined on the left and Ainsworth was on hand to side-foot his first goal for the club from eight yards. "We played well in the first half," said Turner. "We had a lot of possession and should have gone on and done better. "We had pace and tempo but in the second half Rotherham got on top and for the first time this season we were under a lot of pressure. We coped reasonably well, though, I would have preferred to defend further up the pitch. We had to defend corners and free-kicks and throw-ins on our 18-yard line. One or two players had to put their heads in and it was a good rearguard action."
