The 36-year-old has been battling to overcome the problem for almost a year and has not played since Shrews' 3-1 defeat at Luton back in February.[LNB]Jackson recently returned to training on the advice of his specialist to see how the knee held up, but he was still experiencing problems and therefore came to the decision to call it a day.[LNB]However, he will stay with the League Two club at least until the end of the season as he continues a role within the coaching team.[LNB]Manager Paul Simpson told the club's official website: "It's a massive disappointment for Jacko that he has had to come to this decision but he has to look at his long-term health.[LNB]"He will be continuing to work on the coaching side of things here and that is good news for the football club. It's been good to have him around, his input has been good and he has the respect of all the staff and players."[LNB][LNB]
