Smith has to settle for sub role

Goalkeeper Ben Smith is fully-fit for Shrewsbury`s trip to Gillingham but will have to settle for a place on the bench as Chris Neal keeps hold of the number one jersey. Smith has been in the treatment room nursing a groin injury of late but has enjoyed a solid week of training and will replace Hakan Duyan among the substitutes at Priestfield. Defender Danny O'Donnell and striker Nathan Elder remain long-term absentees with respective groin and knee injuries. Winger Lionel Ainsworth and midfielder Mark Wright made their returns in last weekend`s 1-0 win over Rotherham and are again likely to start against the Gills, who meet Shrewsbury for the first time since winning 1-0 in the League Two play-off final at the end of the 2008/09 season. However, it is a different story so far this term, with Town unbeaten in the league and Gillingham still looking for their first victory.
