Simpson to run rule over Hodge

The 20-year-old has caught Simpson's eye with a prolific goal-scoring record in the West Midlands League, and will take a look at the Ludlow man in a reserve match against Port Vale on Wednesday night. Simpson was looking to bring in new blood through the loan-market, but the Town chief said it was important the club exploited the talent available in the non-league pyramid. "He seems enthusiastic and wants to show us what he can do," Simpson told the Shropshire Star. "It's happened many times before that a player has come out of non-League and there's been a number of top players who were missed early on. "All the coaches have been out looking at games and taking in as many as we can, and we've put together a database of players in case we have to act quickly."
