McIntyre switched into central midfield at the expense of Joss Labadie and although others in Town's starting XI may have attracted all the headlines after the victory, Simpson felt McIntyre played in a key role in securing the points. "I thought Kev McIntyre was our man of the match for the way he went about things and broke them up," said the Shrews boss. "Our first goal come from him working hard in midfield and closing things down. He also made some fantastic runs forward to get past the strikers." Simpson highlighted the arrival of loanees Waide Fairhurst and Jamie Devitt for providing him with the options to make the switch. And he also revealed his threadbare squad could soon be boosted by the return of several injured players, including midfielders Craig Disley and Terry Dunfield, who will return to training on November 2.
